Tom Oxberry BSc. OSH Mgt., CFIOSH
Tom holds a BSc in Occupational Safety and Health Management from UCD and is a Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). He also holds a qualification in Further Education, Training and Development from NUI Maynooth. He has spent over 30 years working in Fingal County Council in areas including Design, Construction and Maintenance of Drainage and Water Schemes. For the past 16 years, he was also a member of the in-house Safety Training Team.
Tom was full-time Health and Safety Advisor in Fingal County Council until his recent retirement. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the IOSH Ireland Branch.
He is a past Chairman of the Local Authorities Safety Advisors Group (LASAG) and was involved in a variety of projects with the Local Government Management Services Board (LGMSB) and LASAG that had national implication. He is a member of the Health and Safety Authority’s Manual Handling Training Standards Sub-group. He has also lectured on the Construction Industries Federation’s (CIF) “Managing Safely in Construction” course
For a number of years he was both a tutor and lecturer on the Diploma Course in Occupational Safety and Health in UCD.
Tom specialises in: Manual Handling, Risk Assessment, Safety Representative, Abrasive Wheels, Accident Investigation and Display Screen Equipment (VDU) Assessor training.
